How do I install McAfee Endpoint Security antivirus software on an unmanaged Mac computer?

Solution

Installing

1. Download McAfee from software.uoregon.edu:
   1. Visit the software.uoregon.edu website
   2. Login using your Duck ID and password
   3. Navigate to the McAfee software entry
   4. Download the McAfee Endpoint Security version for unmanaged use and for your operating system: macOS
2. Open the DMG file containing the McAfee software
3. Run the installer PKG file:
   • McAfee-Endpoint-Security-for-Mac-<version>-standalone-<build_number>.pkg
4. Follow the prompts to install the software.

Uninstalling

1. Open Terminal
2. Type the following command and press enter:
   • sudo /usr/local/McAfee/uninstall EPM
     • If prompted, enter the administrator password (for the computer) to allow the uninstaller program to make changes
     • If prompted to allow terminal to make these changes, select Allow
3. McAfee Endpoint Security is now uninstalled
