Setting Up Email: Outlook 2016 for Mac

Webmail

If you are setting up an account in Outlook for the first time:

  1. Start Outlook
  2. In the "E-mail Address" field type in your full email address ("duckid"@uoregon.edu) and click "Continue".
  3. Click "Choose Provider".
  4. Click IMAP/POP.
  5. Under "Password" type in your Duck ID password.
  6. Under "Incoming Server" field enter "imap.uoregon.edu"
  7. Make sure the check box is checked next to "Use SSL to connect".
  8. Under "Outgoing Server" field enter "smtp.uoregon.edu".
  9. Make sure the check box is checked next to "Use SSL to connect".
  10. Click "Add Account".

If you already have an account set up in Outlook:

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. Click on "Outlook" in the upper, left-hand corner and then click on "Preferences".
  3. Click on "Accounts".
  4. Click on the "+" on the bottom left-hand corner
  5. In the "E-mail Address" field type in your full email address ("duckid"@uoregon.edu) and click "Continue".
  6. Click "Choose Provider".
  7. Click IMAP/POP.
  8. Under "Password" type in your Duck ID password.
  9. Under "Incoming Server" field enter "imap.uoregon.edu"
  10. Make sure the check box is checked next to "Use SSL to connect".
  11. Under "Outgoing Server" field enter "smtp.uoregon.edu".
  12. Make sure the check box is checked next to "Use SSL to connect".
  13. Click "Add Account".

Exchange

If you are setting up an account in Outlook for the first time:

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. Under "Please enter your email address" in your full email address ("duckid"@uoregon.edu) and click "Continue".
  3. Under "DOMAIN\username or email" type in your full uoregon email address.
  4. Under "Password" type in your password.
  5. Under "Server" type in "sync.uoregon.edu".
  6. Click "Add Account".

If you already have an account set up in Outlook:

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. Click on "Tools" > "Accounts" in the upper left-hand corner.
  3. Click on the "+" on the bottom left-hand corner and click "New account".
  4. Type in your full email address then click "Continue".
  5. Under "DOMAIN\username or email" type in your full uoregon email address.
  6. Under "Password" type in your password.
  7. Under "Server" type in "sync.uoregon.edu".
  8. Click "Add Account".

UOmail

If you are setting up an account in Outlook for the first time:

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. Under "Please enter your email address" enter your full email address ("duckid"@uoregon.edu) and click "Continue".
  3. When prompted, enter your Duck ID password and click "Sign in".

If you already have an account set up in Outlook:

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. Click on "Tools" > "Accounts" in the upper left-hand corner.
  3. Click on the "+" on the bottom left-hand corner and click "New account".
  4. Type in your full email address then click "Continue".
  5. When prompted, enter your Duck ID password and click "Sign in".

How to update your password in Outlook 2016 for Mac

  1. In the top left corner, click on "Outlook".
  2. Click "Preferences..." A new window will appear.
  3. Click the "Accounts" tab under "Personal Settings".
  4. Select your Uoregon account on the left hand side.
  5. Locate the password field under "Server Information" and update your password.
  6. At the bottom of the window, find "Outgoing Mail Server" and click the "More Options..." button.
  7. Under "Authentication:" click the drop-down and make sure "Use Incoming Server Info" is selected.
  8. Click "OK" button. Close the "Accounts" window.
  9. Send a test email to yourself. "Compose", address it to yourself, put in something for the subject and body (e.g. "test") and hit send.
  10. If you are able to receive this message in your inbox, then you have been successful in changing your password.
