Setting Up Email: Outlook 2011 for Mac

Accessing Your Account

If you are setting up an account in Outlook for the first time:

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the first screen that appears click "Next".
  3. Select "Email account".
  4. Enter your full uoregon email address and password and click "add account".
  5. Enter your uoregon email address and password.
  6. Enter your uoregon email address for the username ("duckid"@uoregon.edu)
  7. For type, select "IMAP"
  8. For incoming server enter: imap.uoregon.edu
  9. For outgoing server enter: smtp.uoregon.edu.
  10. Select "Use SSL to connect" for outgoing and incoming.
  11. Click Add Account.

If you already have an account set up in Outlook:

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. Select the "Outlook" menu in the upper left-hand corner
  3. Select "Preferences" >  "Accounts".
  4. On the first screen that appears click "Next".
  5. Select "Email account".
  6. Enter your full uoregon email address and password and click "add account".
  7. Enter your uoregon email address and password.
  8. Enter your uoregon email address for the username ("duckid"@uoregon.edu)
  9. For type, select "IMAP"
  10. For incoming server enter: imap.uoregon.edu
  11. For outgoing server enter: smtp.uoregon.edu.
  12. Select "Use SSL to connect" for outgoing and incoming.

Updating Your Password

  1. Go to the Outlook menu in the menu bar and choose "Preferences."
  2. Click the "Accounts" button. If you have multiple accounts setup in Outlook 2011, please make sure that you are in your @uoregon.edu Exchange account settings.
  3. Change your password in the "Password" field and close the window. The window automatically saves any changes made.

Exchange and UOmail

Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac is not compatible with Exchange/UOmail and should not be used.
