Duo Mobile registration guide for Android

Introduction

Using the Duo Mobile app is the preferred method of interacting with Duo Security for two-step login.

This article contains instructions on how to download, install, and register the Duo Mobile app on an Android device.

Instructions

Install the Duo Mobile app on your Android device

  1. On your Android phone or tablet open the Google Play store app

     
  2. In the Google Play store, search for Duo Mobile
  3. Press Install to download the Duo Mobile app
  4. Verify the app is installed

Register your Android device with Duo

  1. Open your preferred browser on your desktop or laptop computer
  2. Go to https://duckid.uoregon.edu/
  3. Click Manage Your Duck ID

     
  4. Enter your Duck ID and password
  5. Click Log In
  6. Click Manage Two-Step Login Devices
  7. Click Start Setup
  8. Choose Mobile phone

     
  9. You will be prompted to choose what type of mobile device you are registering.
  10. Choose Android
  11. Click Continue
  12. Type your mobile phone number into the provided field

     
  13. Click Continue
  14. You will now see a QR code on your screen

     
  15. On your Android device open the Duo Mobile app

     
  16. Press Get Started
  17. Aim the camera at the QR code, and it will automatically scan it

     
  18. On your computer, you should see a message confirming that your device has been registered.
  19. You can now use your Android device to log in using the two-step login process.
     

Using your Android device for Two-Step Login

NOTE: After registration, two-step prompts will start for your logins within the next day

When you log in to protected UO services, you will be prompted to select an authentication method.

  • Send Me a Push will send a notification to your Android device through Duo Mobile app. This is the easiest method for authentication. Just tap Approve to login.
  • Call Me will call the mobile number you have registered for the device. You will be prompted to approve the request by pressing 1 or to report fraud by pressing 9.
  • Enter a Passcode requires that you open the Duo Mobile app and press on your University of Oregon account to reveal the six-digit passcode.
